The school serves children ages 4 to 16 years old.

Instruction is in French and Haitian Kreyole.

Cavaillon is in a fertile plain along the southern coast of Haiti. Parents of our students are primarily farmers and fisherman. The area is severely depressed. We first came to Cavaillon because Foyer De Sion Orphanage had received many children from the area. Families find it very difficult to provide for their children and many are forced to give them  to orphanages or or send them away  to the cities as restavaks in hopes of a chance at something better. Our school is the only one in the area. By providing free education and lunch each day to our students, our school  is relieving some of the burden  of crushing poverty for Cavaillon families.

Sionfonds current projects in Cavaillon.

We are actively seeking funding  and planning to build a new school building. Since the earthquake the population of the area and at our school has increased, new classrooms have been added to an already inadequate structures of pole, canvas, plastic siding, press board and tin roof structures.

Our Goat  project has supplied many families in the area with goats, we plan to expand the program. We are also investigating other agricultural projects, involving rabbit breeding and farming. Our commitment to buying fresh locally grown food for our lunch program will also help the local economy.

The fisherman in the area are in need of assistance to reestablish their industry. Sionfonds is looking at ways to revitalize this once thriving, occupation.

Sionfonds will be digging a well and installing a solar pump insuring clean water for the community.

Our medical and dental expeditions will continue to provide the students and community  of Cavaillion with access to biannual check ups and treatments, and providing them with vitamins, toothbrushes, toothpaste,  and deworming medications
